COURSE OVERVIEW

This 4-Day Voice Training course offers a unique experience that contains two components:

1. Your journey to vocal empowerment starts with Foundations of Estill Voice Training®. This completely self-directed online course will introduce you to our unique and powerful system for training the voice. Learners will be automatically enrolled into Foundations of Estill Voice Training® in the Estill Voice Online Academy at the time of registration.

2. Then you’ll attend the LIVE Level 1: Figures for Voice Control™, which teaches the Craft of speaking and singing and employs exercises that will give you new vocal options for all styles. Following that, you’ll finish your journey to vocal empowerment with the LIVE Level 2: Figure Combinations for Six Voice Qualities™ which combines Figure options from Level 1 to produce six voice qualities–Speech, Falsetto, Sob, Twang, Opera, and Belt.

ASHA CEUs will be issued to those who: 1) Complete all components of Foundations of Estill Voice Training®, 2) Score 80% or higher on the Assessment of Learning Quiz (in Foundations), 3) Attend both days of the live “Figures for Voice” on June 11-12, 2025 and both days of the live “Figure Combinations for Six Voice Qualities” on June 13-14, 2025; 4) Complete the course evaluation.

  • Describe the Estill Figures for Voice that span power, source and filter in voice production;
  • Explain the anatomy & physiology that underlying production of the EVT Figures;

  • Integrate Voice Qualities into drama, music, or voice therapy applications;
  • Assess the implementation of Voice Qualities by actors, singers, or patients;
  • Record and analyze samples of Voice Qualities using state-of-the-art voice technology.

Founding Partner and President of Estill Voice International. As a singer, she has performed in pop, musical theater, opera, and sacred music. She has taught in public schools, universities, and conservatories, including Duquesne and Point Park University. Former Singing Voice Specialist at University of Pittsburgh Voice Center and voice consultant worldwide. As a scientist, she received a $400,000 VA grant for voice motor learning research. Holds degrees from Indiana University of PA (B.S.), Penn State (M.A.), and University of Pittsburgh (Ph.D.). Published in Journal of Voice and Professional Voice. Editor of The Voice Foundation Newsletter.

Director of Choral Studies at Western Illinois University, where he teaches choral conducting, pedagogy, and literature, and directs University Singers and Chamber Singers. An active festival conductor and adjudicator, he has presented internationally and published in Choral Journal, Voice and Speech Review, and others. Editor and contributor to The Voice Teacher’s Cookbook and The Choral Conductor’s Companion. He serves on the Voice and Speech Review Editorial Board. Previously taught at Southwestern College (KS) and in public schools. Holds degrees from University of Washington (D.M.A.), University of Illinois (M.M.E.), and Penn State (B.S.). His research focuses on Estill Voice Training in choral pedagogy and conducting gesture.

Clinical Assistant Professor of Voice at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, teaching cross-genre technique using Estill Voice Training. Presenter at major international conferences. Former faculty at Ohio State, Washburn, Friends, and Millikin. Director with Detroit Opera House and CCT. Holds D.M.A. in Jazz Studies from UIUC, M.M. and B.M. from Central Michigan. 2023 NATS Intern and active mentor.

Vocal Director of Operación Triunfo (2017–2023). Vocal Coach since 2002 working with professionals in musical theatre, film, TV, and voiceover. Specializes in vocal rehab for injured voices. Taught at Escuela de Arte Dramático Cristina Rota and Institute of Arts Sitges. Worked on musicals such as Mamma Mia!, Los Miserables, and Hoy No Me Puedo Levantar. Holds postgraduate degrees in Musical Theatre (Guildford), Vocal Pathology Rehab (EPL, ISEP), and On-Camera Acting. Directed voice pathology workshops with leading phoniatrists. Stage credits include The Last Five Years, Hair, Jesucristo Superstar, and many others in Spain and the UK. Has dubbed songs for various animated series and released cast albums.

A proud father, he began his journey as a public school choir teacher, using music to instill confidence and connection in his students. Today, he is dedicated to improving people’s connection, confidence, communication, and clarity, one voice at a time. His passion for the voice is displayed through his podcast Voice by Matt, as an MC, speaker, and coach. Through his coaching, Matt empowers individuals and groups to harness the true power of their voice and encourage their soul to come out to say hello to the world. He works with clients on craft (technique), artistry (storytelling), and performance magic—giving people goosebumps and getting them to feel what we want them to feel.

Cancellation and Refund Policy:

In the event this course is canceled by the instructors, a full refund of the course fee will be given to all participants. In lieu of a refund, participants may choose to reserve their place at a future course with Dr. Kimberly Steinhauer. Participant cancellations will receive a full refund of the course fee up to two months prior to the start of the course. Within two months of the course start, participants may receive a 50% refund of the course fee or may transfer their registration to a future course with Dr. Steinhauer. No refunds for participant cancellations will be given after May 28, 2025 (2 weeks prior to course start). Access to Foundations of Estill Voice Training in the Online Academy is unlimited and the fee is non-refundable. The EVI Resources Fee is non-refundable. Voiceprint is non-returnable, non-refundable.
