Steve Morton is a freelance vocalist/vocal coach, pianist, musical director and composer/arranger who works across the North East of England and Central Scotland, where he grew up.Having previously graduated with First Class Honours on the B.Mus Jazz, Popular and Commercial Music programme at the Sage Gateshead, Steve began working towards becoming a Certified Master Trainer of Estill Voice Training.After more than a decade of performing, Steve still maintains a busy performance schedule as a vocalist, pianist and MD working in both musical theatre and popular/contemporary music. Indeed, he has given performances at numerous renowned festivals, for various television and radio programmes, including BBC One's 'The One Show' in 2015 and recently completed tours with iconic British bands Take That (with Voice of the Town) and Ocean Colour Scene. He has been fortunate enough to play alongside an array of fantastic artists and musicians and is proud to continue to this day to work as pianist for Motown Legends, Martha Reeves & The Vandellas (2013 to 2019).Show credits to date have seen performances at the likes of: The Blue Note Jazz Club (Milan), The Jazz Cafe (London), London 02, SSE Hydro (Glasgow), Birmingham Arena, Middlesbrough Riverside Stadium, Brooklyn Bowl, Usher Hall (Edinburgh) and many, many more.As well as being a musical director for theatre, Steve is Founder, Director and Group M.D. of ‘Voice of the Town’, an adult contemporary choir which has groups in Birmingham, Coventry, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Newcastle. Across Further & Higher Education, he has held academic roles, worked as guest lecturer and delivered masterclasses at a number of institutions, including: Newcastle University, Sage Gateshead, Newcastle College, New College Durham, New Lanarkshire College & Sage Academy of Performing Arts.
