Joanna discovered EVT in 2005 and has never looked back. She was the first Estill student to receive the Estill Figure Proficiency (CFP) in 2006. She then went on to become an Estill Master Trainer (EMT) in 2008 and Estill Mentor & Course Instructor (EMCI) in 2019. Joanna received her Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from The Ohio State University in 2009 and was one of the first students to become certified in OSU's Singing Health Specialization Program. While finishing her graduate work, Joanna worked closely with EVT experts Kim Steinhauer and Tom Burke in her effort to complete her EMT. Joanna completed her speech-language pathology clinical fellowship with Dr. Robert T. Sataloff at his voice center in Philadelphia, PA. She then went on to work at such renowned voice centers as The Johns Hopkins Voice Center at GBMC in Baltimore and Vanderbilt Voice Center in Nashville. In October of 2014, Joanna was invited to join fellowship-trained laryngologist Dr. James Daniero as the singing voice specialist/SLP for the University of Virginia Voice Center, where she is now Director of Outpatient Voice Rehabilitation. Joanna has been teaching voice for over 20 years and is an experienced performer.
