COURSE OVERVIEW

This 4-Day Voice Training course offers a unique experience that contains two components:

1. Your journey to vocal empowerment starts with Foundations of Estill Voice Training®. This completely self-directed online course will introduce you to our unique and powerful system for training the voice. Learners will be automatically enrolled into Foundations of Estill Voice Training® in the Estill Voice Online Academy at the time of registration.

2. Then you’ll attend the LIVE (in-person or online), Level 1: Figures for Voice Control™, which teaches the Craft of speaking and singing and employs exercises that will give you new vocal options for all styles. Following that, you’ll finish your journey to vocal empowerment with the LIVE (in-person or online) Level 2: Figure Combinations for Six Voice Qualities™ which combines Figure options from Level 1 to produce six voice qualities–Speech, Falsetto, Sob, Twang, Opera, and Belt.

ASHA CEUs will be issued to those who: 1) Complete all components of Foundations of Estill Voice Training®, 2) Score 80% or higher on the Assessment of Learning Quiz (in Foundations), 3) Attend both days of the live “Figures for Voice” on June 11-12, 2024 and both days of the live “Figure Combinations for Six Voice Qualities” on June 13-14, 2024; 4) Complete the course evaluation.

  • Describe the Estill Figures for Voice that span power, source and filter in voice production;
  • Explain the anatomy & physiology that underlying production of the EVT Figures;

  • Integrate Voice Qualities into drama, music, or voice therapy applications;
  • Assess the implementation of Voice Qualities by actors, singers, or patients;
  • Record and analyze samples of Voice Qualities using state-of-the-art voice technology.

Kimberly Steinhauer
Kimberly Steinhauer Estill Voice International President & EMCI with Advanced Testing Privileges and Service Distinction
Kimberly Steinhauer (EMCI) is Founding Partner and President of Estill Voice International. She has devoted her entire career to the voice — in song, education, and research.

As a singer, she has been employed in a variety of musical venues ranging from pop, musical theater, opera, and sacred music.

As a voice educator, Kimberly has taught vocal and instrumental music in the public school system, guided the private voice studio at Pennsylvania Western University, instructed speech and hearing science courses at Duquesne University, and served as Head of Voice for the Conservatory of Performing Arts at Point Park University. She has been recruited as a voice consultant nationally and internationally, and tailors voice exercises and repertoire specifically for clients who have experienced vocal injury. Previously, Dr. Steinhauer was the Singing Voice Specialist at The University of Pittsburgh Voice Center.

As a voice scientist, Kimberly worked as research health scientist at the Veterans Administration Pittsburgh Healthcare System where she was awarded a 3 year, $400,000 Merit Review grant to study voice motor learning in healthy and disordered aging speakers. She combined her love of singing and inquiry into the science of singing for her B.S. in Music Education at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, M.A. in Speech Communication at The Pennsylvania State University, and Ph.D. in Communication Science and Disorders at the University of Pittsburgh.

Dr. Steinhauer’s work has been published in the Journal of Voice, Emotions in the Human Voice, and in Professional Voice: The Science and Art of Clinical Care, 3rd edition. She is editor of The Voice Foundation Newsletter.

Mary McDonald Klimek
Mary McDonald KlimekEMCI with Advanced Testing Privileges and Service Distinction
Mary McDonald Klimek has been a professional musician and voice teacher for over 50 years. She holds degrees in Music Education (B.S.) from Skidmore College, and degrees in Voice Performance (M.M.) and Speech-Language Pathology (M.S.) from Boston University. Mary taught voice in high schools, a college, community music schools, and her private studio.

Mary’s association with Jo Estill began in 1990 with a workshop at Wellesley College. In the years that followed, Mary attended as many Estill workshops and courses as her schedule would allow. In her travels with Jo, Mary became a research subject in several of Ms. Estill’s videoendoscopic studies with Dr. Eiji Yanigasawa in New Haven, CT, and was featured in “The Laughing Larynx” video.

In 1995, she became a Speech-Language Pathologist. She specialized in the treatment of professional and performing voice users and worked at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary in Boston for nearly 14 years. She was among the first group authorized to present Estill Voice Training® to the public, and, in 2004, became a founding partner in Estill Voice International (EVI).

Tom Burke

Tom is a licensed speech-language pathologist and certified teacher of the Estill Voice Training System and Fitzmaurice Voicework.

Tom maintains a private practice in New York City providing voice training and rehabilitation services to Broadway singers, voice-over artists, broadcasters, and executives at Fortune 500 companies including Google.

An Estill Master Trainer, Michele is a professor of theatre in the Visual & Performing Arts Department at Educational Affiliate PennWest California where she is a director and teaches the acting sequence, directing and voice for the actor courses at the University.

She received her B.A. in Theatre from California University of Pennsylvania and her M.A. and Ph.D. in Directing and Staging Pedagogy from Bowling Green State University. She is an Estill Master Trainer with Estill Voice International. She is also the President and Artistic Director at the Mon Valley Performing Arts Center, a 501 (c) (3) organization that provides a safe and nurturing environment for local youth to study the performing arts at low or no cost to families.

Luke Steinhauer (EMT) is a premier vocal coach, international voice consultant, and Estill Master Trainer based in New York City. Speaking and singing clients include Broadway and regional theatre actors, Pop/Rock Artists, Bands, Fortune 500 company leaders, and amateurs alike.

He serves on the faculty of Tu​ Experiencia Broadway as well as The College Audition Advantage (TCAA). In the past, he’s taught voice for Krowne Vocal School NYC, Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit, The Theatre Aspen School, and The Pittsburgh CLO Academy of Musical Theatre.

As a Music Specialist he’s worked with physically and mentally challenged individuals at The Block Institute and also as a Vocal Teaching Artist in New York City Public Schools.

Luke is Director of Operations for Estill Voice International and regularly offers EVT® courses across the globe.

Alexander McDaniel

Master of Music: Vocal Performance/Music Theatre (NYU), Advanced Certificate of Vocal Pedagogy (NYU), Bachelor of Arts: Liberal Studies/Music Theater (PPU), has worked as a voice teacher for over 15 years. He is a voice instructor at PennWest California and St. Mary’s College of California.

Previous teaching positions include Adjunct Voice Instructor at the New York University – Steinhardt, Private Studio, the Pittsburgh CLO Academy, and Vocal Coach at Premier Performing Arts. Students include professional recording artists, professional theater performers, and aspiring singers of all ages.

His performance credits include Off-Broadway, Broadway Concert Series, Original Cast Recording, Regional Theater, and Television. In addition, Alexander is a proud member of the Screen Actor’s Guild.

Jaron M. LeGrair

Jaron is a singer, voice researcher, voice teacher, music director, professor, author, and entrepreneur. As an entrepreneur, he founded the Jaron M. LeGrair Studio, a studio that specializes in providing voice training for singers and speakers.

As a researcher, he has presented research on various voice-related topics across the world and has also presented research and workshops at The Voice Foundation, the National Association for Teachers of Singing, and Estill Voice Training. He is also a sought after authority in voice pedagogy and application as it relates to Gospel, R&B, and Musical Theatre.

Though Jaron is a teacher and an entrepreneur by trade, he is a singer at heart. He has been featured as a soloist in many productions, choirs, groups, and stages. Some of those organizations include the Akron Symphony, Opera Columbus, Sean Tillery & Changed, and Ricky Dillard & The New Generation Chorale.

He has served as a Professor of Voice, Music, and Musical Theatre at Point Park University, Youngstown State University, and Indiana Wesleyan University. Currently, he is a Teaching Artist at Saint Mary’s College of California and is a part of the Estill Voice Training community as a Estill Master Teacher Candidate.
